The people refused to accept the military takeover. Government staff launched a Civil Disobedience movement which continues to this day.
Within days, the military and police began to use deadly force against protesters
It is estimated that over 2,000 peaceful protesters have been killed to date since February 2021
It is no longer safe to organize mass protests in Myanmar
Despite the risks, many groups still stage flash protest actions, in order to let their community--and the world--know that they still will not accept military rule.
